Woman rescues homeless dog and realizes it looks like her deceased older dog

A woman, an employee of a food delivery company, said goodbye to her dog and lifelong companion of 14 years in December, and never thought that she would fall in love with another canine so soon, since saying goodbye to her best friend still it hurt and she didn’t feel ready to meet another furry yet.

But, apparently, fate did not think the same as her, and one day a small, frightened homeless dog crossed her path, thus changing both their lives forever.

The woman, who prefers not to give her name, told The Dodo :

“I see this scruffy dog ​​crossing the street behind the truck and in front of me. He was so little, and given my newly broken heart from the loss of my own fur baby, I didn’t want to risk leaving him for someone to beat up.”

When the woman met the little canine again, their connection was instant and without much thought she decided to take it with her.

The woman said:

“When we looked into each other’s eyes, I told him, ‘Come here, friend,’ and he ran towards me, almost jumping into my arms. It was a moment where I felt like he had been looking for me my whole life and finally he found me.”

He immediately thought of locating the dog’s family, but with no luck, because he did not have an identification microchip. After a full vet check-up, the 3-year-old dog, whom he named Stitch, appeared to be in good health, aside from his matted hair, everything seemed to be in perfect shape.

The woman added:

“After spending a week with Stitch, and with no clues as to his owner, I cut his hair. That was the moment I realized how much he looked like Lela. I had to stop fixing it when I started crying and just hugged him.”

The woman remembers that Stitch seemed a little skittish and he wasn’t sure how to play with the toys. Now, after a while, he loves them. He ended up becoming the most lovable dog in the world and brings a lot of joy to his new family.

Although Stitch’s adoptive mother still misses Lela, she is grateful for the time they spent together, as well as for the company of Stitch, who since he came into her life she feels happy.

Finally, the woman said:

“I sit and wonder if somehow, somewhere in this universe, it was Lela who made us cross paths at just the right time. The resemblance between the two is uncanny. He desperately needed proper love and care, and I desperately needed help to mend an incredibly broken heart.”
