What kid doesn’t like a pedestrian suspension bridge?

You know, the type that you can jump on and the bouncing freaks your brother/sister/mum out whilst they’re on it, too!

We visited Taylor’s Crossing just last week or so. Make sure you access this little gem from the Benambra – Corryong Road. (Yes, you can get there from the Omeo Valley Highway, but trust me, unless you are a serious 4WD traveller, you WON’T want to do this. The jump ups were insane. That’s the female side of the team, not male talking!)

This site has been inaccessible for a while, as the day use/picnic area/toilets are on the Benambra side and you have to cross the Mitta Mitta River for the camp area. SO only bring your 4WD, tents and offroad RVs like camper trailers.

The river crossing was the longest (and deepest) on our 2023 High Country adventure, so far!

It is not a large area, but there are the lovely Victorian fire pits with BBQ plates.

Locals tell me this is a favourite swimming waterhole as well. The river is quite fast moving, so do take care. I’m sure that fishing is also popular here.

The Australian Alps walking track also passes through here. In fact, Taylor’s Crossing was the BIGGEST river crossing for walkers on the hike. The first bridge was only built in 1988. Prior they could pull themselves across in a boat near Dartmouth Lake or wade through.

The toilets were in good condition and the picnic area was lovely looking over this magnificent river.

We just love that on this trip in Victoria, national park campgrounds were free and better still, you don’t have to book!

Bridges and locations like these are also a favourite for photographers. Have you been here?

Dispersed camping is through much of the Alpine National Park. There are so many beautiful designated campgrounds, too! There are other pet friendly locations outside the national park.
