When Rachael Lawrence and her family lost their two-year-old cat named Barnaby, they were truly devastated, and despite the passing of the months, the woman and her children always thought of their beloved feline. Incredibly, one day the woman knew that she had found her pet when she recognized her meow in the background of a phone call.

Rachael had contacted the veterinary clinic where her other 11-month-old cat named Torvi was located, she would be undergoing surgery. Hearing some meowing at the end of the line, the woman asked the staff if it was Torvi she heard meowing, but they told her it was a stray cat that had arrived a week ago.

The cat’s meow haunted Rachael’s mind for hours after she hung up, so without thinking twice she decided to call the clinic again.

After asking if the cat was black and being told that it was, the woman continued to inquire about certain particular signs that Barnaby had on his fur, such as a white spot on one of his hind legs, and it turned out that he also liked her. They replied that the cat had those particular signs.

As soon as she approached the clinic and the cat was brought into one of the rooms, Rachael knew that it was indeed her missing cat 8 months ago.

Rachaeal told Metro UK :

“I cried. I’m talking about crying snot bubbles. I was screaming. We hadn’t seen him for eight months.”

At first, Barnaby was nicknamed Fatman by his family, but when he returned he had a lot of scabs all over his body and was really skinny and hairless after his ordeal those months on the streets.

But now the sweet feline is more than happy to be back with his humans, and they can’t wait to feed him again and help him recover.

Rachael remembers video calling her three children, Be, Joshua and Amalie from the vet’s office.

The woman added:

“I just said, ‘Look who I found.’ They said, Oh my gosh, it’s Barney. He is Fatman! Now he’s back home where he should be. He is being so good. We just have to fatten him up so he’ll be Fatman again.”
