MEET THE WHITE-THROATED MANAKIN

The white-throated manakin (Corapipo gutturalis) is a tiny bird with a mainly black body and white throat which spreads down to his upper chest area.
The female has a green upper body with a grayish lower body.

White-throated manakin is endemic to and found in Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela.
They prefer to live in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forested areas.
These birds forage high up in trees for insects and fruit. Insects are caught on the wing in aerial sallies.
During the breeding season, White-throated Manakin (Corapipo gutturalis) gather around a log, where the males bob and pose as he tries to impress a would-be mate. After a successful display, they build a cup-shaped nest from moss and plant fiber placed about 8 meters above ground level in the fork of a tree. It is bound to twigs with cobwebs into which a clutch of up to 2 eggs is laid.
This species has an extremely large range and hence does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range size criterion.
